COMBINATION SKIN How can I have Oily and Dehydrated (dry) skin at the same time? Off all skin types, combination skin is the most common but managing combination skin can be quite a balancing act. Generally, the T-zone (forehead, nose and chin) produces excess oil and occasional blemishes. At the same time, less oil is produced on the cheek, eye and neck area, causing possible dehydration, dryness, tightness and fine lines. As with other skin types and conditions, the cause of combination skin appears to be genetic. However, lifestyle, stress, diet, make-up and environment can contribute to the imbalance. In addition, climate changes can cause combination skin to be dehydrated during the cold, windy months and shinier with more breakouts during warmer, more humid seasons. |
TEST *does you skin experience more oil and blemishes on the forehead, nose, chin than any other areas? *does you skin feel normal or tight on your cheeks and eye area? *is your skin drier in the winter and oilier in the summer? *does your makeup become blotchy in the T-Zone and disappear on you cheeks? |
EXPERT ADVISE FOR COMBINATION SKINS Daily gentle double cleansing, exfoliating with a natural exfoliant such as rice bran powder, bacilius fermus, bamboo protein or AHAs & BHAs will help remove dull skin cells that contribute to dry skin and can clog pores in the oily T-zone Use a lightweight, oil-free moisturizer that is non-comedogenic (will not clog pores) which will moisturize the drier areas with out contributing to excess oil in the t-zone, apply a gentle mask once per week Avoid the sun and apply epf along with you spf Drink plenty of water to keep skin hydrated, take an EFA and minerals along with using a natural mineral makeup A thorough analysis is generally necessary to determine some of the internal causes to this skin type. To make to necessary adjustments to you home care program. A zone-by-zone analysis is extremely beneficial with this condition. Blue LED light is highly effective to help control oil secretions and internal congestion Microdermabration can also help even out the skin tone of this skin type. |

DRY DEHYDRATED SKIN Dry skin is caused by the skin protective barrier’s inability to retain enough natural skin lipids or oils to keep skin moist. A weakened barrier is often hereditary but occurs naturally as we age and can be accelerated with lifestyle. Dehydration (skin that lacks sufficient water) also contributes to dry skin and can be caused by environmental exposure, low humidity, temperature changes, poor diet and harsh cleansers that strip the skin. Some telltale signs of dry skin include flaking, tightness and skin that can feel irritated and uncomfortable. Also, dry skin tends to reveal smaller pore sizes and fine lines and wrinkles, more rapidly than other skin types, so it is especially important to avoid damaging sun exposure and protect skin with physical dau light blocks 15/30 along with epf (environmental protection factors). Never use anything that may dry/dehydrate the skin further. |
TEST *does you skin usually feel tight and uncomfortable, especially after cleansing? *do you notice more fine lines around your eyes, forehead, mouth and neck? *does your skin become rough, crack and flake especially in low humidity or cold climates? *does your makeup disappear quickly throughout the day? *do you feel like you constantly need to re apply moisturizers? |

AGING SKIN The truth about aging – Welcome to the natural aging process – lets just try and age gracefully As we grow older, our skin experiences several significant changes. The skin’s natural support system begins to break down, causing fine lines, wrinkles, and loss of tone (elasticity). Additionally, the skins surface begins to show dark and light spots, roughness and aging is due to harmful free radicals caused by UV radiation from the sun exposure, stress, pollution, smoking, pesticides and other modern day hazards all play a role. Skin starts to age long before the visible signs of fine lines and wrinkles appear on the surface. In fact most of the ground work for aging is laid down before the age of 18 as a direct result of too much unprotected exposure to all the earths elements. As the damage is accumulative, even a stroll on a cloudy day contributes to a prematurely aged skin. Dermatologists and skin professionals agree – WEAR A SUNSCREEN AND ENVIRONMENTAL BLOCK EARLY! However; once were here let’s try and age as gracefully as we can. It is extremely important to increase the activity in your treatment creams by adding serums or boosters. Regular maintenance products that you used in your younger years with minimal active components just won’t reverse or slow down your aging process any longer. You have to turn up your skins activity level to really see any true changes. It is time to incorporate LED Red light, Microcurrent and chromatherapy, Iontophorasis can also be of significant help, along with those Serums or Boosters to guarantee the results expected. |

High processed foods, few veggie or fruit, tanning, smoker, chronic illness, genetics like freckles, fare skin and the age you start menopause all influence your chronological aging. |

Don’t overdue it though because the skin is already naturally thinning out. OILY TO ACNE PRONE SKIN What can I do about blemishes, oily and acne prone skin? Wow! This is a hard one as anyone who suffers from this will testify. There is no single cause for oily and acne prone skin. Genetics and changes in hormonal activity, first stimulated during adolescence, along with clogging pores and excess oil, play a key role in oily/acne prone skin. Factors such as stress, hormonal fluctuations, hot and humid climates, some medications and certain cosmetic ingredients can irritate the skin and clog pores, which can lead to poor skin health. Because of all these factors, oily/acne prone is often common in adults also, usually at the perimenopausal stage (10 yrs. Prior to menopause). Regular clinical treatments done to extract the blackheads and unclog the pores is helpful to prevent enlarged pores or scaring and should be done on a monthly or every 6 week basis. Adolescent acne and Adult acne should be handled a little differently and with the high flux in baby boomers adult onset acne is definitely on the up rise. C’Shell can help with both conditions with a variety of highly effective products. |
THE SKIN TEST + do you consistently experience spots and blemishes? + do you find it hard to control unwanted shine? + do you have enlarged pores that often become clogged resulting in whiteheads, blackheads, pustules, papules, cystic acne under the skin, bumps that never go away? + bacteria in the follicles for prolonged period can be a huge irritant also. |

YOU WILL CAUSE PERMANENT SCARING or redness to stay much longer then it would if you would treat (with appropriate product) the problem first. Treat don’t pick! Double cleanse daily especially in the evening prior to retiring to bed to remove excess debris, oils, make-up anything that can contribute to your problem AHA and BHA, glycolic, Vit. C, and salycidic acid are wonderful products here as long as recommended by your Derma Therapist / Aesthetician and for the appropriate period of time. Use an oil-free moisturizer that will hydrate the inner layers of the skin without contributing to clogged pores. Protect you skin daily with Physical oil free day light block spf 15/30 if in the day light for a prolonged period of time. Use non-comadogenic make-up (mineral works great) not aggravate your skin.
